Well, what’s a status update without some bad news?

MY DAD’S JOB.

Despite the work I do by commission, my family and I depend heavily on my dad’s paycheck. He gets paid enough that we can cover our mortgage (despite some delays). This month they have delayed for far too long, and the one bank we have the mortgage with is going viciously at us. We are depending on a company that likes to play with people’s lives, delaying paychecks for all workers, and my dad has been in this situation for over five years. This uhas been the worst one yet.

WHAT DOES THIS IMPLY?

The house is at risk. Like, really at risk. It’s bad enough that selling it and paying the mortgage with it doesn’t sound like a bad idea. We don’t know what we will do yet, all we can do is wait. If he doesn’t get his paycheck, we’ll have to get moving.

WHAT I WILL DO.

After I’m done shaking off the crumminess and general sadness, I’m going to keep drawing and getting commissions completed. I have a duty to my clients and commissioners, and thankfully I have enough drive and discipline to not let this affect my craft.

My current queue is here.

And it’s not getting any smaller. Whenever I finish a drawing another one comes next to replace it. I’ve been like this for over two years now. I’m stressed, I’m worn out, and at my wits’ end.

But I’m still going. I don’t know for how long, though.

I’ll keep you posted.

Thank you all for taking a moment and reading this.

UPDATE!

One really generous (and insane) person went ahead and sent enough money to cover that one mortgage payment that’s hanging there and putting our entire house at risk. It will be taken care of before the week even ends.

We will still on the watch regarding my dad’s job. Sadly there’s no way to fix that, but my situation at home is definitely getting straightened again.

Currently I am sketching two commissions and inking a third one. Progress!

I’ll give you more updates as things move forward.
